ENGAGING THE CULTURE!
THE LAW IS GOOD, IF A MAN USE IT LAWFULLY
I TIM 1: 1-15
What a relevant statement! The Bible again speaks to humanities condition and situations in our culture today. His Truth endures to all generation (Ps 100:5)!
LAWS, especially Immigration Laws and Civil Rights Laws are the watershed issues of the day. They are considered the hottest topics in current events in America and Globally. So what does the Bible say about Laws? I’m glad you asked!
The idea of “Laws” were revealed in the mind of God and seen administered through his servant Moses who was the world’s first Legislator and Law Giver; He was a righteous and meek man under God’s Authority. Several thousands of years later, Paul the Apostle writes to young Timothy, his son in the faith, about Laws also. He said there were those who wanted to be great in the Law but they had no understanding in the works and terms of the Law neither of the subjects about which they were trying to impose the law. Man hasn’t changed much! Read it for yourself in First Timothy 1:1-15. Paul further stated that Law is good, if it is used lawfully. Although in the text he is talking about the Ten Commandments given by Moses to the Jews, a principle about Law is revealed here; Laws are good if used lawfully.
CASE IN POINT! Consider the Civil Rights Laws of America, it was good for all people especially for African Americans, legislated by a majority Republican Congress, endorsed by most Democrats in Congress and signed into Law by a Democratic President. It was good legislation and good for all people. However, since the signing of the Civil Rights Bill into Law, it has been high-jacked by lawless people and groups who use the good Law to carry out lawlessness and evil deeds and agendas. The Law is good if man use it lawfully. In America we now have homosexuals who used the Civil Rights Laws as a right to sodomize each other and practice other deviant behaviors in society and to call themselves married. When lead by unscrupulous so called legal experts, Extremist lay claim to America’s Civil Rights Laws even when they high-jack airplanes and use them as weapons of terror and other sinister agendas that are acted out on innocent people. Again, the misuse of good law! Now we have the Illegal Immigration issue, upon which the Civil Rights Laws are being high-jacked again. Immigrants who enter another Nation by means other than the legal due processed way break that Nation’s Laws and thus they are illegal. This is elementary if you minus the “political correctness” jargon. Even more lawless is the entitlement mentality of the Illegal Immigrants, upon which they claim to have a Civil Right by Law to stay in that Nation and be giving all the rights and privileges of a Citizen while they march in the public square and waive another Country’s flag and demand rights that even the Citizens of that Nation are not privy to. This is another unlawful use of the Civil Rights Laws. Selah!
So the problem here is not the law, because the law is good. The problem is with lawlessness and moral depravity within the hearts of man and the lack of enforcement of the Law. Most people who break the Law know that they are doing so. I know when I break the Law.
I agree that we are a Nation of Laws, but I do not agree that we are a Nation of Immigrates. It may be truly stated by people we respect, but it is not a statement of truth. Most Americans, at lease for the pass 200 years, have been born and raised on America’s soil and can go back at least four or five generations with parents who were born in America. At what point does a person stop being an Immigrant. It seems that Illegal Immigrants get it! They come here illegally and have children on American soil and say their children are Americans. They do not call their children Immigrants but Americans and use them as their ticket to the Civil Rights Laws of America. So why are we saying things like, we are a Nation of Immigrants? It is more accurate to say that we were a Nation of Immigrants.
So, why do we have Laws? Well, the Bible is the faithful truth and a trustworthy read that tells us!
1 Tim 1:9-10
KJV
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
With this read, isn’t it interesting how the “Lawless” does not like the Law and the “Lawful” have no problems with the Law and recognize the necessity of it? God is right again! This is not hard to understand! We have Laws for the lawless and disobedient and any thing that is contrary to wholesomeness and wisdom. Why is it that the most educated people and the most brilliant minds of our Nation are having a hard time enforcing Laws? Why most often are the Civil Rights Laws of America abused? Has anyone read the Immigrations Laws of America? We know they have not been enforced but has anyone read them? I’m beginning to think that education is over rated because the most brilliant minds do not know what to do. Obviously education is not the problem, but lack of wisdom! Wisdom comes from the Lord and we must ask Him for it!
We all might agree that Immigration Laws need reformation but how do we really know for sure? The Laws were never enforced; we don’t know if they worked or not! Here’s a novel idea, how about enforcing the Laws that already exist at least to stop the immediate influx of Illegal Immigrants because illegal immigration hurts our Nation in many ways and secure the boarders. Afterwards a reformation process can begin of the policies and a reasonable, moral and compassionate solution can be derived to deal with the law breakers. Lawlessness is never the right answer for a people and should not go unpunished neither should it be rewarded. Lawlessness breeds lawlessness and it always abases a Nation and a people! SELAH!
PRAYER!
Father, In Jesus Name… Your Word says, righteousness exhorts a Nations, but sin is a reproach to any people. I ask you to grant wisdom to those in authority that they will make righteous decision that our Nation will be blessed. Expose, reveal and remove corruption, and replace with what is right before you. Help your Body to be the salt and light of the Land and be the moral compass in the culture. Help us Lord to cry aloud and spear not in these perilous times. Draw men unto you as we lift up your righteous standards. Thank you for your mercy. AMEN!
